Why we built The Cruise Globe
How well do you remember your first cruise? Your 15th? Your 50th? Built by cruisers, for cruisers, The Cruise Globe was designed to be a visual logbook for tracking, quantifying, and sharing your entire cruise history, as an alternative to notebooks and spreadsheets. Now we have live ship tracking, future cruise countdowns, and our very own cruise booking service, with social features to help connect you with your fellow cruisers, coming next!
Why people love The Cruise Globe

Powered by
The Cruise Maps
The team behind The Cruise Globe started by founding The Cruise Maps in 2023. The Cruise Maps creates beautiful print maps of your exact cruise, using the same AIS satellite ship-tracking technology that powers the Globe. These print maps are available in a variety of size and frame options, and are sold in partnership with some of the world’s best known cruise lines like Cunard and P&O.
Having started with The Cruise Maps and then receiving countless requests to see all maps in one place, The Cruise Globe was the logical next step in the journey!

Obviously, building The Cruise Globe is not cheap, and we fund it in a number of different ways. When you choose to book your next cruise with our cruise booking service, we earn a commission directly from cruise lines, at no extra cost to you! We also have a range of physical products, sold via The Cruise Maps. You can turn any of your past cruises into a cruise card, and/or a high-quality printed map, available in various frame sizes and colours. We also offer Cruise Maps Albums, Cruise Cards Albums, collectible Scale Ship Portraits and Ship Cards, and Cruise Globe Merch too! We also offer a paid membership as an optional way of supporting us, with benefits including exclusive discounts and behind-the-scenes access.
We plot the exact route of your cruise using AIS satellite ship tracking data - the same technology that powers our Live Cruise Tracker, monitoring every ship position in real time. We use the historical data (going back to 2015) between the dates you've said you were on board, to find the exact route your ship sailed, capturing any unexpected diversions, missed ports, or strange patterns to pass the time on sea days.
The AIS data is less reliable before 2015 as the technology was less advanced. For any cruises taken before 2015, you can submit a list of the ports you visited, and we use our own custom-built technology to reconstruct an estimated route based on our extensive historical data of cruise ship routes travelling between these ports.
The Cruise Globe was built to log and display your entire cruise history, including both ocean and river cruises.
Because AIS satellite ship tracking is less reliable on rivers close to densely populated areas, we have manually mapped the most popular river waterways ourselves. Simply enter the ports you visited, and our custom-built technology will generate an estimated route of your river cruise to complete your cruising history on your Globe.
If you ever find that a specific ship is missing, just let us know via our contact form and we will add it to the ship list for you.
If you made a mistake when adding a cruise to your Globe, you can Edit or Delete your cruise via the options menu for that cruise (accessed via the downward-pointing arrow next to every cruise in your cruise list).
While we source the best available AIS satellite data, no system is completely flawless across millions of historical voyages. If a route looks off, we rely on our community to flag it. You can report a possible error directly by using the report button in the app, or contact us using our contact form so we can investigate and correct it.
While both apps have a live cruise tracking feature showing ship positions, facts and schedules, The Cruise Globe adds an entirely new, much more personal layer. The Cruise Globe allows you to log and relive every voyage you've ever taken on a clean, ad-free, 3D satellite globe. Each cruise you log builds your personal Cruise Globe passport, summarising your cruise history with interesting stats. You can share and compare your travel history with others, and even provide personalised future cruise recommendations based on where you have already been.
